Use of facial recognition app for mandatory attendance, says Botcha

Education Minister Botcha Satyanarayana made it clear on Thursday that using the facial recognition app to record teachers’ attendance was mandatory.

Addressing a meeting attended by officials of the Department of School Education and representatives of various teachers’ associations, Satyanarayana said that technical issues, if any, should be brought to his attention and that would see to it that they were resolved immediately.

The minister said that teachers need not worry about their personal information leaking on their mobile phones due to the use of this attendance app. He said the government wanted to improve education standards and had no intention of putting teachers in any awkward position.

He said that to strengthen the education system, the principals of the Government and Zilla Parishad schools have been asked to take on the Full Supplementary Charge (FAC) as respective Mandal Education Officers. The many other changes introduced in the sector were aimed at improving the quality of education, he reiterated.

Special Chief Secretary, School Education, B. Rajasekhar, Commissioner S. Suresh Kumar, Samagra Wing Additional State Project Director Shiksha B. Srinivasa Rao, Joint Director (Services) M. Ramalinga and the leaders of recognized teachers’ unions were present at the meeting.
