Schenectady District Launches Streamlined Website and Mobile App

SCHENECTADY – Anyone looking for information about the city’s school district or a specific school can now access it in the palm of their hand through the district’s new mobile app.

But if you prefer a computer or laptop, you’ll be happy to hear that the district’s website has a new address – — is more user-friendly and intuitive.

“The goal here was to make it simpler, but also to make it consistent so that you notice that the schools have the same design as the main district website, and the goal here is for the schools to control the content of their pages, Superintendent Anibal Soler Jr. said at last week’s school board meeting during a presentation from the district’s communications department.

Both were posted on Wednesday.

Keane Primary School will be the first to test the improved school-specific functionality of the new website.

With it, district administrators and building managers can now send an automated call or push notification from their mobile device or the website, Soler added.

The app, which users can download from wherever they get their apps, is also ADA compliant for the handicapped or handicapped and users can set their preferred language.

“The most important thing for me is that it’s in their mobile device, and we know that most of our families use the internet through their mobile device, and so everything will hopefully become accessible for them,” said Soler.

He did not elaborate, but said the district plans to use the mobile app as a teaching or learning tool in the future.
