Designed to educate and increase awareness of standard setting in the packaging and converting machinery industry
Herndon, Virginia – During this year, PACK EXPO Las Vegas and Healthcare Packaging EXPO (September 27-29; Las Vegas Convention Center), PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies released a new course on how to develop standards within the framework of the ongoing project for the financing of the cooperation program for the development of markets of the Ministry of Commerce.
Introduction to Standards Development is a free program developed by PMMI for the benefit of businesses by providing information related to standards participation. With the knowledge of standards development, machines can be designed, operated and maintained in accordance with applicable requirements. The machinery export market also enjoys a huge advantage in meeting requirements in global destinations.
This program is designed to increase awareness of how standards can help achieve business goals. In addition, the ability to participate in the development of standards supports a competitive solution for the global market. The course is not industry specific; it increases the importance and value of standardization work in all industries. It presents examples directly related to packaging and processing machines.
In October 2020, PMMI received an award from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Market Development Cooperation Program. Joint financing creates and maintains jobs in the United States by increasing or maintaining exports of American products. With financial and technical assistance provided by the International Trade Administration (ITA), PMMI has developed this course to support education and awareness of standards.
