Online course helps parents navigate the IEP


Special education consultant, international speaker and author, Dr William Lane has launched a new course for parents and / or guardians of special education students.

Individualized Education Plan: Your Guide Before, During, and After, a Seven-Session Course, is a comprehensive guide for parents preparing for their child’s IEP reunion.

In this course, Lane helps parents learn terms that might be used during their child’s IEP meeting; set effective academic success goals for their child; maintain a clear vision and commitment to their child’s academic success and ongoing support; and develop collaborative relationships with educators and support staff to organize all efforts around their child’s progress.

“When a child needs extra learning support, the process can be overwhelming, especially after the struggles of the past 18 months of blended or distance learning,” Lane said. “This course is designed to cover everything parents of special education students need to know in the world of IEP, including legislation, education rights, accommodations, accommodations, etc. My goal is to help parents navigate complex terminology and create strategies that will ensure their child receives the best possible service so that they can thrive in school and at home.
