This year, Key bank is proud to sponsor the 16th annual Jumpstart Read for recording literacy campaign. Jump start provides quality educational opportunities to all young children, with a particular focus on low-income children. brings together organizations from around the world to read the same book to millions of young readers in one day to celebrate literacy and provide access to high quality children’s books.
Support from KeyBank will provide funding for 25 classes in the JumpStart program that focus on preparing children for kindergarten. KeyBank also provided 750 copies of this year’s selection of books, Amy Wu and the patchwork dragon to children aged 2 to 5 living in 17 affordable housing communities in the bank markets of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania.
Victoria O’Brien, KeyBank Community Development Lending and Investments (CDLI) team leader, who leads CDLI’s affordable housing development team, coordinated Key’s JumpStart sponsorship and volunteer efforts in collaboration with two major affordable housing developer clients, The Community Builders and Beacon Communities.
KeyBank CDLI has provided more than $ 8 billion in financing for affordable housing over the past three years. In addition to handing out the books, KeyBank employee volunteers organized reading sessions for children at some of the properties.
