Famous drug lord El Chapo has just celebrated his third consecutive Christmas dinner in a US maximum security prison.

The former head of the Mexican Sinaloa cartel, Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman, is considered one of the most powerful drug traffickers in the world.

This year, the 64-year-old former drug lord is said to have received a two-course dinner to accompany activities, including a talent show.

According to the Infobae news site, El Chapo was served Cornish chicken and peanut butter cake for Christmas dinner before taking part in festive activities such as drawing, painting and a talent contest. musical.

He was convicted of smuggling tons of drugs from Central America to Mexico, the United States and Canada for over 30 years using boats, planes, road vehicles, trains, submarines and tunnels.

Witnesses accused him of bribing officials at almost all levels of the Mexican police, military and politics.

One charge involved an alleged payment of $ 100million (£ 74.3million) to former Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.

After the fall of El Chapo, his four sons are said to have taken over the cartel.

They are now the subject of a charge or investigation by US federal agents.

Earlier this month, US authorities offered a bounty of $ 5million (£ 3.7million) for each of El Chapo’s four sons, known as “Los Chapitos”.

The brothers are called Ovidio Guzman Lopez, Joaquin Guzman Lopez, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman and Jesus Alfredo Guzman.

Their father now spends most of his time in a cell just two meters wide and 3.5 meters long.

El Chapo leaves his cell, but only two hours a week when he has access to a patio.
