(ORLANDO, Fla.) — Charles Schwab Corporation has expanded its sponsorship of The On Course Foundation, the organization that uses golf to help injured veterans recover physically and mentally, and reap newfound confidence in golf careers.

The support from the financial services giant is for the On Course Foundation’s flagship event, the annual Simpson’s Cup. The 10th edition of the four-day event and two-day competition will be played August 28-31 at the famed Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. It pits American and British teams of 13 wounded servicemen against each other in Ryder Cup-style matches with opening and closing ceremonies at the Ryder Cup and the Olympics.

“On Course Foundation saves lives by helping injured service members develop game and golf skills,” said Mason Reed, managing director of corporate acquisition and marketing at Charles Schwab. “To see injured veterans – many of whom face the daily challenges of missing limbs – playing with single-digit handicaps in the Simpson Cup and throughout the year is awe-inspiring.”

A poignant video about the On Course Foundation and the Simpson Cup, produced by Charles Schwab, is here. As a result of this partnership, 12 On Course Foundation members worked at the PGA TOUR’s Charles Schwab Challenge in May in Fort Worth, Texas.

“We are grateful to Charles Schwab for facilitating the assimilation of injured veterans into society,” said John Simpson, founder of the On Course Foundation and namesake of the Simpson Cup. “The more golf instruction time we provide, the more physically, mentally, professionally and financially capable and happy Service members are.”

On Course Foundation has received record financial contributions over the past 12 months. The product expands the organization’s impact into new regional markets across America. It currently conducts free educational programs in 15 states.

In addition to Charles Schwab, sponsors include Apollo Wealth Management, Barclays, CSX, JP Morgan, KPMG, Callaway, Clubessential and Summit Golf Brands. Countless individual donors also salute the military, the game of golf, and the vast improvement in lives that would otherwise have plummeted.
The Simpson Cup is named after John Simpson, the longtime business manager of Nick Faldo, Vijay Singh, Bernard Langer, Nick Price and other Tour players. As a child, he was stricken with poliomyelitis which, to this day, renders his left leg non-functional. Simpson’s disability and his conversation with injured veterans at Headley Court in the UK in 2010 led him to marry golf and goodwill, eventually founding On Course Foundation.
