Angela Duckworth’s Grit Lab to Launch New Course for High School Students on Instructure’s Canvas LMS | Regional news

SALT LAKE CITY, October 7, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Instruct today announced that the new Grit Lab 101 course, created by the New York Times bestselling author Angela Duckworth, will be available to high school students exclusively on LMS canvas. Watch Duckworth as she shares more on Grit Lab 101 in this clip of today’s InstructureCon 2021 event.

Duckworth developed the course which takes the science of the grain and makes it actionable for students. The original course, “Grit Lab: Fostering Passion and Perseverance”, launched in Spring 2020 for undergraduates of the College University of Pennsylvania. Students learn principles that emerge from a large body of adolescent psychology research on how to foster passion and persistence for long-term goals.

Now high school students will also be able to experience a hands-on course created especially for them, Grit Lab 101, powered by Canvas. Grit Lab 101 is currently being piloted with selected schools in United States.

“Students learn best when what they learn is relevant to their own lives,” said Angela Duckworth, Founder and CEO of Character Lab. “When I teach, I ask myself what students will want to learn and apply today, tomorrow and 25 years from now? “

In addition to his role with Character Lab, Duckworth is also Professor Rosa Lee and Egbert Chang at the University of Pennsylvania, Co-Director of the Faculty of Penn-Wharton Behavior Change for Good Initiative and Co-Director of the Faculty of Wharton People Analytics. Angela completed her PhD in Psychology as a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. Angela’s TED talk is one of the most watched of all time. His book Grit: the power of passion and perseverance is a # 1 New York Times Bestseller.

Angela Duckworth is one of the most respected voices in education today because its work empowers students to become stewards of their own educational journey, ”said Melissa Loblé, Director of Customer Experience at Instructure. “We have already seen that his college course was a resounding success at University of Pennsylvania. Now, thanks to Grit Lab 101 available on Canvas, many other students will have the opportunity to discover their passion and cultivate perseverance. “
